Davis Cup. Great Britain 1 step away from the semifinal

Great Britain is closer and closer to reach an historic Davis Cup semi-final.

Andy Murray gave again his contribute by defeating Fognini and Bolelli with Fleming in the doubles 6-3 6-2 3-6 7-5.

On Saturday Andy played an aggregate 255 minutes as in the morning he had to beat Seppi in singles (6-4 7-5 6-3) before winning the doubles.

From Great Britain

Smith, the captain, had wonderful words for the Brit no.1 “This is why we are so blessed to have Andy in the team. He’s a fighter, he’s a champion and you see over the last couple of days how much he brings to the team. His Davis Cup record is now pretty amazing when you look at it.”

Next matches

The most important match is Murray vs. Fognini. Andy has to get this match as James Ward (ranked 161) is widely expected to lose to Andreas Seppi in the last match.

“I’ll need to serve well against him,” said Andy about his match against Fognini. “He obviously plays very well from the back of the court when he is dictating the points.

Getting free points on my serve will allow me to be aggressive on his service games. I think that’s the weak part of his game. His serve is attackable so I will need to serve well myself and put pressure on his serve by going for my returns.”
