Jannik Sinner is about to face Stefanos Tsitsipas for a place in the Australian Open semifinal. The Italian sensation is playing better and better to consolidate his position as a top player.
Recently, tennis legend John McEnroe expressed his desire to coach Jannik Sinner. It is not the first time that the American made it public his intention to partner with a top player. A few years ago, he said that it would be a no-brainer for him to accept to coach Nick Kyrgios.
Back to Jannik Sinner, McEnroe told Eurosport:
“I am definitely available on a part-time basis, helping Jannik Sinner get over the hump, which I’ll believe he’ll get over whether I coach him or not. He came to my club when he was here for the U.S. Open, he was practicing, and he’s like a sponge.”
Riccardo Piatti has been coaching Jannik for a long time, but the Italian seems to be more than happy to add such a huge personality to his team. Sinner commented:
“When John speaks, of course, he is a tennis legend. He has won many tournaments, he was a great player. Yes, I would like to be coached by him. Let’s see what comes out.”
