Stefanos Tsitsipas With His Father Apostolos

Stefanos Tsitsipas is having a fantastic career to be a stable top5 player. The Greek sensation had a difficult upbringing when trying to mature as a tennis player, but he always had the back of his father and coach Apostolos.

Stefanos has been coached by his dad since the beginning of his fantastic career. The father-coach relationship has always been tricky for a tennis player, and this was not an exception.

During a recent interview, Apostolos explained why he was happy with his relationship with Stefanos. He added that things were not easy during the first part of the pandemic with Stefanos often away from his family. Apostolos revealed commented:

“It was a distance between family. I was at tournaments with him, nobody could come there and visit us.

It was not easy; a lot of restrictions and for sure had an impact. I know Stefanos, he loves his family, and deep inside him, he wants to make the right decisions.

He’s making the right choices. I’m not worried about me; I would always be around whether he feels like I need to be his coach or I need to be his father.”

Apostolos explained that Stefanos was trying to get more independent to say:

“I feel he wants to explore himself; I think he can take much more responsibilities now. And I also can overcome difficulties easier, I can deal with my emotions and feelings about him much easier.”

Here is also a very nice video about Apostolos’ philosophy.
