The difference between being world no.4 and world no.5 in the rankings is actually huge.

Being no.4 means that Roger won’t have to face Nadal and Djokovic before the semifinal of every tournament and that is very important to reach the latest stages competitions.

Reaching the quarters in Miami wasn’t a great result for the Swiss, but that was enough to overtake Ferrer in the ranking. 

“It’s a good start to the season, no doubt. I want to keep it up now for Geneva when I play next week.” said Roger

And then world no.3?

Roger may actually go for more as his teammate Wawrinka will be few points ahead and he needs to defend lots of them from now till the 12th of May.

So Roger will likely get the 3rd place… and then?
