Stephens
Sloane did really play the best tennis of her career, but eventually she has managed to defeat world no.105 Zarina Diyas 7-5 6-3 in 85 minutes. The match was infested by breaks (6 won by Sloane and 3 by Zarina)… but it was good enough for Stephens to get through and play Caroline Wozniacki in the third round. Head to head is 3-0 for Caroline.
Bouchard
Not a good day at the office for Genie Bouchard. The Canadian struggles to have that final breakthrough that would allow her to break in the top 10 to lose a terrible match in Miami opener. After winning the first set 6-1 against Elina Svitolina, Genie imploded to lose the match 1-6 6-1 6-2 after 1 hour and 38 minutes (no good!)
In the other results Ajla Tomljanovic had a great win against Garbine Muguruza 3-6 7-6 (6) 6-1 to play Varvara Lepchenko in the third round.
