Novak Djokovic’s saga in Australia gets to an all-new level by the hour. The Serbian champion was stopped at the border after the local authorities revoked his Visa because they were not satisfied with the documents that allowed him to receive a medical exemption.
Things snowballed pretty quickly and unfortunately everything started to have a political connotation. After the Australian politicians understood that their citizens were not happy by the decision of allowing Djokovic to enter the country, they decided to have a “deeper look” at his documents before stopping him. The Serbian prime minister also stepped in to defend Novak whose popularity in Serbia is huge.
Novak made an appeal and we will learn the final decision of the court by Monday.
Djokovic like Jesus Christ and Spartacus
Back in Serbia, Novak’s father Srdjan went to an all-new level with some weird statements. After attacking the Australian PM Scott Morrison, he compared his son to Jesus Christ and Spartacus to say:
“Tonight they can throw him in a dungeon; tomorrow they can put him in chains. The truth is he is like water and water paves its own path. Novak is the Spartacus of the new world
which won’t tolerate injustice, colonialism and hypocrisy.”Then he added:
“Jesus was crucified on the cross but he is still alive among us. They are trying to crucify and belittle Novak and throw him to his knees.
This has nothing to do with sports; this is a political agenda. Novak is the best player and the best athlete in the world, but several hundred million people from the West can’t stomach that.”
