Why Coco Gauff will beat Barty in Adelaide according to Taylor Townsend

Coco Gauff And Ashleigh Barty

Cori Gauff and Ashleigh Barty are going to face off in a tasty second round in Adelaide on Wednesday (7:00 pm). Coco started a new season in the best possible way after dismissing Ulrikke Eikeri 6-2 6-1 in the first round.

While the world number 1 Ashleigh Barty is widely considered to be the hot favourite in her match against Coco, according to Taylor Townsend the young American can very well pull an upset.

Taylor commented:

“This is a very evenly-matched situation because Coco got a match and Ashleigh hasn’t really played, like Paul said. But I think I’m going to call Coco in this next. They kind of had a toe-to-toe match when they played last time. Ash had to retire but Coco has the edge a little bit. She has more power off of the groundstrokes really really imposing herself from the ground and is looking to come forward more which I love to see so I’m calling Gauff.”
