Federer is world no.2 in 2014 rankings and his fire is still burning!

Roger Federer is a new man!

After a horrible 2013 that gave to the Maestro one disappointment after another, Roger is ready to bounce back.

The Swiss had a great start of 2014 with 1 title, 2 finals (the latest one he lost to Novak Djokovic in the tiebreak of the third set) and his tennis is back to great levels.

World no.2

Roger is now world no.2 in the YTD (year to date) rankings just behind his friend Stanislas Wawrinka. This means that Federer is definitely there to grab a slam and … why not… a world no.1 rank.

1 Wawrinka, Stanislas (SUI) 2,380
2 Federer, Roger (SUI) 2,010 2 5
3 Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 1,995 -1 5
4 Djokovic, Novak (SRB) 1,690 6 4
5 Berdych, Tomas (CZE) 1,685 -2 6

Federer: I still have fire…

During a recent interview Roger said ”A few weeks ago, months ago, a few people said I couldn’t play tennis anymore.  at the same time, that fire, wanting to win, is important, and right now I have that. I think have a really good balance right now.”

… I had some doubts

”I had some doubts at certain times,” he added. ”But, overall, I knew that it can’t be that I will feel this way forever, so it was just important to stay patient and wait. That’s the most difficult thing to do. I haven’t had it very often in my career. That’s why it was somewhat new for me.”

Roger will start his next campaign in Miami possibly against Ivo Karlovic. If nothing strange happens, the Maestro should be ranked world no.4 in 15 days.
