Nick Kyrgios, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Alex Bolt and Storm Sanders are the local players who received a main draw wild card from Tennis Australia to compete in some “warm-up events” in January.
According to Tennis Australia, Alex Bolt, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Storm Sanders will compete at the Adelaide International, while Nick Kyrgios received a wild card to play in Sydney.
Nick Kyrgios
Unfortunately, Nick Kyrgios is almost out of the top 100 (he is ranked number 93) and therefore, he had to benefit from a wild-card to be in the main draw in Sydney (10th of January) after receiving another wild card to play in Melbourne (4th of January).

“I’ve been training at home in Canberra and here in Sydney, and I feel good after an extended break from the game. I’m looking forward to the final hit-out before the AO, thanks to Tennis Australia for the opportunity to play.”

Now the world no.93, Nick played his last match on the 25th of September when he lost to world no.4 Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 in the round robin in the Laver Cup (draw).

Thanasi Kokkinakis in 2021
Now ranked no.171, the Australian played his last match on the 5th of October when he was defeated by world no.303 Matteo Viola 6-3 3-6 7-6(9)
in the qualifications in Indian Wells (draw).This season Kokkinakis achieved an overall 33-21 match record. This year, Kokkinakis won 1 title in the Biella 6 Challenger. Kokkinakis reached the final in the Sibiu Challenger.
