Why Raducanu will have issues in Wimbledon. SAYS WIMBLEDON CHAMPION

These are the reasons why Emma Raducanu may have some problems in competing in Wimbledon

After winning the US Open, Emma Raducanu became one of the most popular tennis players in the world.

The new British sensation hit already the headlines a few months before when she reached the second week in Wimbledon after taking advantage of a wild card. However, Raducanu had to withdraw when she played in the 4th round when struggling to breathe. Apparently, Emma’s issues were generated by the enormous pressure from the high expectations of her fellow countrymen.

As reported by the Express, 1987 Wimbledon champion Pat Cash believes that Emma Raducanu will have some issues also in the future when playing in Wimbledon because of the pressure. Instead, the British teenager may feel freer to compete in other majors such as the US Open.

Cash commented:

“Emma Raducanu is a top player. Her challenge is to prove she can win big again and that she’s not a one-trick pony. The good thing for her is that because she has no obvious technical weaknesses her game is less likely to break down under pressure. She is a good athlete as well.

But I always found it easier to win big tournaments outside Australia. At home, there was way more pressure.

New York was the total opposite of Wimbledon for her in terms of pressure and expectation. Going forward she has to try to mimic what she did in New York but she might find that easier to do away from Wimbledon.”
