Emma Raducanu is living the dream. In September, the new British sensation reached immediate stardom after winning an improbable US Open title. In New York, Emma started her run from the qualifications before winning 10 consecutive matches and making history.
Emma has fantastic tennis, a great personality, and a fantastic look. This proved to be a wonderful combination for the teenager who has been clinching endorsements after endorsements. Raducanu became the brand ambassador for Dior, Evian, British Airways, and Tiffany & Co in no time. In the last few hours, we also received the news that she managed to strike a deal with Vodafone, apparently for £3 million a year.
Judy Murray on Emma Raducanu
This windfall does not convince Andy Murray’s mother Judy. Of course, it is all deserved by Emma, but recent history has taught us that all these sponsorships may have a toll on a given athlete.
Judy Murray commented:
“She is, quite rightly, tennis and marketing gold dust right now. At the start, that may be exciting but over time, it’s likely to be very draining.
It’s not so easy for a teenager to fit into the corporate world but sponsorship and endorsements come with obligations and personal appearances.
And those all require your time and energy.”
