Novak Djokovic is chasing his 21st slam title to establish yet another incredible record. The Serbian sensation has won the Australian Open 9 times and he is the hot favorite to win the major Down Under also in 2022 if he is going to play.

Will Djokovic play the Australian Open?

Novak Djokovic is notoriously against vaccination, but in order to compete in Australia, tennis players need to be fully vaccinated unless they obtain a special medical exemption.

This situation is becoming quite complicated also because Novak does not want to disclose his vaccination status.

Why Djokovic is probably not vaccinated

However, during a recent interview, Djokovic’s father, Srdjan, (sorts of) admitted that his son didn’t receive the jab by saying that it depends on the Australian authorities if they want to allow Djokovic to enter the country. If Novak were fully vaccinated, there would be no issue for Novak to play in Australia. Therefore, even if the tennis legend didn’t want to disclose that his situation, it is safe to assume that he is not fully vaccinated

Srdan Djokovic’a father commented:

“They have to decide whether they will let Novak in. If they decide [to have Djokovic playing in Australia], they have to stand behind their decision.

He has won the Australian Open 9 times. He now wants to play, but they have to permit him to play. Novak will do what he thinks is the best for him

, nobody will impose an opinion on him.”

Srdjan is not even worried about the chances of Novak winning his 21st major since he believes that he will get 4 or 5 more majors.

“What to do if he ends up not going [in Australia]? We will wait for Roland Garros and his 21. Grand Slam title. He will win a few more Grand Slam titles until he retires: I think 4 or 5. He will win at least twice in Wimbledon and some other Slams for sure. Do you doubt that? You don’t need to be an expert, but Novak will play for another 2-3 years and this will be enough,” he added.
