We have a great final in Indian Wells as Agnieszka Radwanska will take on a surprising Flavia Pennetta for the title.
Radwanska
Agnieszka is having a great tournament to beat an in-form Jankovic in the quarter and now Simona Halep in straight sets. The first set was rather smooth for the Pole that rushed to a 4-0 lead to then wrap up the opener 6-3. In the second set after an exchange of breaks in the 4th and 5th game, Agnieszka wins the decisive break in the 7th set (4-3) to win the set 6-.4. Match Stats
“I played her a couple of weeks ago, so I kind of knew how she’s playing – obviously she had really great results for the last couple months,” Agnieszka said. “First of all, she’s a very solid player. A lot of things come back and she’s really playing deep balls. What I was trying to do today was play aggressive from the beginning of the match and really just try to go for my shots. I was lucky.”
Pennetta
Flavia surprises again. The Italian has beaten great players in this tournament such as Sam Stosur, Camilla Giorgi (that did upset Sharapova), Sloane Stephens and now the Australian Open winner Na Li.
Flavia was the clear underdog against the Chinese. The first set was a mess with 8 consecutive breaks from each side to go straight to the breaker won by Flavia at 5. The second set was a bit more regular with Flavia winning the decisive break in the 8th game (5-3) to win the set 6-3.
Flavia commented “I think we played really good tennis tonight. In Australia I didn’t have any chance against her, but tonight I played much better. I just fought and tried my best. Of course I’m happy.”
The Final
Agnieszka leads Flavia 3-2 in the head to head matches. The pole is the hot favourite the be the title, but so was Na Li against Pennetta…
