Andy Murray won the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year award and he is a strong supporter of Emma Raducanu for achieving the same feat. According to the world number 1, Emma deserves to win the coveted award after her incredible US Open title.
During a recent interview, Andy joked that Emma in a way is more qualified than him to win the award. Murray jokingly said that he was criticized for not having much of a personality all the times that he won this award. Instead, Emma has a very sparkling character and is probably “more deserving” to achieve this recognition.
Snddy commented:
“Every time I won it I got accused of not having a personality but she has a fantastic personality. She deserves to win, I don’t think anyone would be too surprised if that is the outcome.”
Andy and Emma are both in the Middle East for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. After defeating Rafael Nadal in straight sets, Murray reached the final to face Andrey Rublev for the title. Unfortunately, Raducanu did not compete because she tested positive to Coronavirus.
