It’s a fantastic moment for Roger Federer! In fact, the Maestro is shining while all his biggest rivals are struggling…so… it’s time for Roger to aim at something important.
Definitely World no.5 …
Reaching the semi-final in Indian Wells allows Federer to become at least world no.5 from next week as he will leap frog Del Potro Murray and Berdych…but that may be just the very start of everything.
… then world no.4
Roger will be ranked no.4 if he wins the title in Indian Wells, but if that doesn’t happen he has very strong chances to be world no.4 in 2 weeks times.
In fact, he will play in Miami next week where he doesn’t need to defend any point (he didn’t play there last year). Even if Roger won’t perform, David Ferrer (the current world no.4) has 600 points to defend as he was last year’s runner-up in Miami. If you add that Ferrer is struggling with his fitness (he withdrew from Indian Wells)…. well Roger has really high chances to regain the world no.4 spot rather soon.
But you know what? Roger is definitely going for much more.
