Leylah Fernandez and her struggle to accept the US Open final loss to Raducanu

Leylah was understandably not happy with losing in the US Open final. She will be back stronger than ever.

Emma Raducanu and Leylah Annie Fernandez had a fantastic journey at the recent US Open. Both reached the final going against the odds. However, (and unfortunately) there could be only one winner and that was Emma Raducanu.

Leylah Fernandez was elated with her fantastic run in New York, but she had a hard time accepting losing in the final. As reported by ESPN, Leylah commented:

“I still can’t accept that defeat, but I learned what I can teach the world and that I can play against the greats.

I hope to be back here in the finals, this time with the right trophy.”

Leylah wasn’t disrespectful against Emma; she was just disappointed about falling at the last hurdle.

Leylah is now in the middle of the preseason training hard to get her best fitness for the start of 2022.

Currently the world no.19 (career-high), the Brit played her last match on the 9^th of November when she lost to world no.102 Xin Yu Wang 6-1 6-7(0) 7-5 in the 2^nd round in Linz (draw).

This season the Brit has achieved a composed 25-9 match record. Raducanu conquered 1 title at the U.S. Open. Raducanu was the finalist in the Chicago.

Currently ranked no.24 (career-high), the Canadian played her last match on the 12^th of October when she surrendered to world no.40 Shelby Rogers 2-6 6-1 7-6(4) in the 4^th round in Indian Wells (draw).

This year the Canadian achieved a 25-17 match record. Leylah Annie clinched 1 title in Monterrey. Leylah Annie got to the final at the U.S. Open.
