Eugenie Bouchard seemed poised to have a good season in 2021 after she reached the final in Guadalajara in March. Unfortunately, the Canadian player had to surrender to a shoulder injury. Genie opted to undergo surgery and start a long recovery that will bring her back to the professional tour, hopefully for early 2022.

During a Q&A session, Genie admitted that she was terrified before the operation since that would have been the first time she would go under.

“Full Anaesthesia. I was so scared beforehand cuz I’ve never been under. But everything went perfectly. However, when I came to after the procedure I kinda freaked out and was super emotional lol,” said Bouchard.

Bouchard also revealed that her mother got a video that does she is going to post one day.

The recovery

Genie is now in the middle of the offseason I said she has been strengthening her body with a big focus on the right shoulder. Here is a video of Genie training adopting the so-called Aquatic therapy.

Now ranked no.250, Eugenie played her last match on the 16th of March when she surrendered to world no.141 Lin Zhu 7-5 7-6(3) in the 1st round in Monterrey (draw).

At the moment, during this season the Canadian has managed to achieve an overall 5-4 match record. Eugenie Bouchard’s most significant result of this year was getting to the final in Guadalajara.
