
Rafael Nadal, Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep wrote heartfelt messages for Manolo Santana who passed away at the age of 83. Manolo is a tennis icon in Spain after he won 4 slams: French Open (1961, 1964) Wimbledon (1966), and US Open (1965).

At the moment, during this season Muguruza has achieved a compiled 42-17 win-loss record. Garbine clinched 3 titles in 2021 in Dubai, in Chicago and in Guadalajara. Muguruza was the runner-up in Melbourne and in Doha.

Now ranked no.20, the Romanian played her last match on the 10th of November when she beat world no.53 Jasmine Paolini 4-6 7-5 6-0 in the quarter in Linz (draw).
