Roger Federer has a rather vast experience after being on tour for more than 20 years. He has seen many generations come and go. However, during a recent interview with Sky, the Swiss Maestro revealed that he is stunned by the pool of talents coming from Italy, referring particularly to Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Musetti.
Roger commented:
“Berrettini can win a Grand Slam. I’m watching Matteo’s games and I see more and more players solid, consolidated in the top 10. He wins more and more games and has been on the circuit for quite some time. As the old generation passes, there will be more and more space for the new ones.”
Talking about the nextgen, Federer added:
“Both he and Musetti and Sinner will have opportunities. Jannik replaced Berrettini at the best at the Finals. You have an incredible generation of talents that can still grow and consolidate. Now Berrettini and Sinner must not be satisfied to have entered the top 10 but to take another step and maximize one’s talent. It remains an exceptional moment for Italy that will last many more years.”
