Amelie Mauresmo appointed as the Roland Garros director

The former world number 1 will be the first woman to be the Roland Garros tournament director

2-times slam champion and former world number 1 Amelie Mauresmo becomes the first woman to be the French Open tournament director. Amelie takes the place of Guy Forget, who has mysteriously given his resignation from being the tournament director of the ATP1000 in Bercy and the Roland Garros.

Amelie commented:

“I am very proud to join the Roland-Garros team. I have accepted the position of Tournament Director with clear ambitions. I will carry them out with the same high standards, freedom and passion that have always driven me.”

The French Open is scheduled to be played on the 23rd of May with Novak Djokovic being the defending champion.
