Nadal upset by Dolgopolov in Indian Wells!

Alexandr Dolgopolov beats Rafael Nadal after an incredible match.

The Ukraine lost to Rafa 5 times out 5 without even managing to win a single set. This time that was different.

The world no.1 couldn’t really exploit his serve (back injury) and Dolgo took full advantage of it to break Rafa 4 times. The most interesting part of the match was the 3rd set. The Ukraine broke Rafa in the 6th game (4-2), but he was broken back when he was serving for the match (5-3). Eventually Rafa brought the match to the breaker that Dolgo won at 5. The last point was a thriller as Alexandr fired an ace that was challenged by Rafa. The ball was out for few millimeters. The Ukraine didn’t lose his cool to win the last point with a great forehand.

“I feel great, as after every win, of course,” said Alexandr. “I beat the defending champion and the No. 1 in the world.”

Next vs. Fognini

Alexandr will play Fabio Fognini in the 4th round. The Italian has defeated Gael Monfils 6-2 3-6 7-5 after saving 2 match points. Head to head is 3-0 for Dolgopolov that has never conceded a single set to Fabio.
