Emma Raducanu enjoyed a rather crazy and extremely successful year. It was well known that the British sensation had great talent, but no one would have expected her incredible runs at the last 2 majors of the year. Emma received a wild-card for the Wimbledon main draw to reach the second week. Things got even (much) better at the US Open where the nineteen-year-old did not have the luxury of having another wild card. Therefore, Emma had to go to through the qualifications before winning a stunning title without even dropping a single set in 10 matches.
The glory after the US Open
Soon after winning the title in New York, Emma became an instant sensation in the UK and all over the world. Thanks to her sparkling personality and outstanding appearance, top brands are now more than happy to endorse the British talent.
It is almost taken for granted that Emma will also win the coveted BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. In the meantime, Raducanu clinched the Sportswoman of the Year at the British Sports Award.
Happy and looking forward to next year
In the acceptance speech, Emma commented:
“It’s an honor to receive such a great award and there have been some incredible past winners so to be a part of this is a really incredible achievement. It’s been a really crazy year and such a great journey and I’m just looking forward to what’s ahead.”
Emma Raducanu will spend the next couple of weeks in the Middle East where she will compete in the prestigious Mubadala World Tennis Championship against gold medalist Belinda Bencic. By the 17th of December, she will head to Australia to get ready to compete in the first slam of the year.
