THE CHALLENGE. This is what Raducanu should do according to Sharapova

Maria Sharapova And Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu won her first major at just 18 years of age. Tennis legend Maria Sharapova went through a similar experience when she conquered Wimbledon at the tender age of 17.

During a recent interview with The Telegraph, Maria Sharapova shared her experience to stress the fact that it is normal that Emma has been attracting so much attention. Maria commented:

“You learn through it. When [you are young] and you succeed and become a champion, there are certainly going to be opportunities off court that come your way.

Emma is an incredible athlete, what she has achieved at such a young age is very rare in the sports world and she has to enjoy every single moment of it.”

Overwhelming

Maria explained that the overall experience can be tricky to deal with especially at that age. Sharapova added:

“From my own experience at a young age, winning Wimbledon came so unexpectedly I never thought that I was physically ready to win seven matches in a 14-day period,” Sharapova continued.

When that happens, it’s incredibly overwhelming, you still can’t quite believe it.

Emma and her family will cherish that beautiful feeling forever, because it is all so exciting. You’re thinking, did that really just happen?”
