Federer wins opener in Indian Wells

A good start of the tournament for Roger Federer that struggled a bit just at the end of the match when he wasn’t unable to grab the win when he was serving on a 5-4 score-line (2nd set).

The first set was rather smooth for the Maestro that broke the Frenchman in the very first game to win the opener 6-2 (the second break was in the 7th game).

The second set was a bit more complicated as Roger broke Paul-Henri in the 7th game (4-3), but then he was unable to hold serve when he was 5-4 up. The couple went to a tight tiebreak that Roger won at 5.

The big difference between Federer and Mathieu was in the service games. Roger fired 9 aces (1 double fault), Paul-Henri committed 7 double faults (1 ace).  Finally Roger was rather effective in break points conversion (3 out of 5). Match Stats
