Emma Raducanu had a fantastic 2021 after she won the US Open, starting from the qualifications. However, Emma will have to deal with a lot of pressure in 2022 because of very high and probably unrealistic expectations.
During an interview with Tennis Channel, Tennis legend Andy Roddick shared his view on what Emma will face next season. The American commented:
“The hardest thing in sport, in my opinion, is expectation. What she did at the US Open was unbelievable, but it was largely without expectation of ‘Hey, if you don’t win this final, it’s bad for you.’
Taking nothing away from her, but it is a different type of pressure set now.
What I would want to see is consistent weeks where she is winning three matches, winning four matches every week. That would be the next benchmark if I am on her team.”
