Monica Puig appoints Azarenka’s former coach

World no.57 Monica Puig is one of those players that are expected to step up in 2014.

The 20 years-old didn’t impress much this year to have an ominous 1-3 win loss record. That was rather unexpected give the nice run she had last year when she has reached the 4rth round in Wimbledon.

So, in order to have a breakthrough Monica has hired Antonio Van Grichen that coached for long time Vika Azarenka and then he had some experience with Ivanovic, Zvonareva and Gajdosova.

Monica commented “I felt like I needed a change in my game to take me to the next level. I thought I needed a fresh voice and a new face on the team so I’m really excited to have started work with him and really excited to start our first tournament together at Indian Wells.”

Puig will play now Elina Svitolina in the first round in Indian Wells.
