Naomi Osaka is well-known for taking a strong stand against social injustice. The former world number 1 was extremely vocal after the horrible killing of George Floyd in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Like her fellow tennis players, Naomi Osaka was also shocked to learn about the “disappearance’ of Shuai Peng after she made public the fact she had an affair with a former top politician.
Naomi posted the following message:
“Hey everyone, not sure if you’ve been following the news but I was recently informed of a fellow tennis player that has gone missing shortly after revealing that she has been sexually abused. Censorship is never ok at any cost, I hope Peng Shuai and her family are safe and ok. I’m in shock of the current situation and I’m sending love and light her way. #whereispengshuai”
Indeed according to the WTA, Shuai Peng is safe and sound in Beijing.
