Novak Djokovic has broken all sorts of records, but this does not mean that he does not appreciate the achievements of other players. During a recent interview with COPE, Serbian sensation explained that he is absolutely stunned by what Carlos Alcaraz Garfia has achieved this year.
Carlito is the first player that has won 30 matches on the main tour while being a teenager since 2004 when it was his childhood hero Rafael Nadal to achieve the same feat. More impressively, at 18 years of age, Carlito is already about to break in the top 30, being ranked the number 32. It was no surprise that Alcaraz won the next-gen finals in Milan after conceding only one set in five matches that were also played with a best of five format.

“What he has achieved this year is impressive and historic. He is one of the youngest players to have achieved this kind of success, like his idol Rafa, in which he obviously notices.“

Now ranked no.1, the Serbian played his last match on the 15th of November when he beat world no.8 Casper Ruud 7-6(4) 6-2 in the round robin in the Nitto ATP Finals (draw).
Until now, during this year Djokovic owns an overall 49-6 win-loss record. Djokovic has won 5 titles in 2021 at the Australian Open, in Belgrade, at the French Open, in Wimbledon and in Paris. Novak reached the final in Rome and at the U.S. Open.

Ranked no.32 (career-high), Alcaraz Garfia played his last match on the 13th of November when he overcame world no.41 Sebastian Korda 4-3(5) 4-2 4-2 in the final in the Next Gen ATP Finals to win his 1st career title.
This year Alcaraz Garfia owns a composed 48-19 win-loss record. The Spaniard clinched 2 titles in 2021 in the Oeiras 3 Challenger and in Umag.
