Jannik Sinner was hoping to qualify for the ATP Finals, but he narrowly missed his target to be instead the alternate number 1. However, Jannik Sinner will most probably play a couple of matches in this season’s finale. Unfortunately, fellow Italian player Matteo Berrettini got injured during his match against Sascha Zverev. The Italian retired in tears at the beginning of the second set because of an abdominal injury.

After the match, in the following press conference, Matteo Berrettini confessed that he was heartbroken for the epilogue. He was still hoping to recover for the last 2 matches. However, it is quite unlikely that he will make it. In this case, it will be Jannik Sinner to take over and face Hubert Hurkacz and Daniil Medvedev in the round-robin.

We will probably have some updates on Monday.
