Emma Raducanu has just concluded her incredible 2021 after losing in the opening match in Linz. Even if Emma had an early exit in Austria, she was still in a good mood when announcing she had finally found a new coach: Torben Beltz.

The German coach used to mentor Angelique Kerber for almost a decade in different stints. He has huge experience at the WTA level and he knows very well what it means to stay at the top. With his guidance, Angelique Kerber won the Australian Open, US Open and Wimbledon. In addition, she conquered the Olympic silver medal and became world No 1.

Why Torben Beltz

Emma seems to be overexcited by partnering with Torben. Besides his considerable experience, she also likes his positive energy. Emma commented:

“He brings a lot of experience. He’s obviously worked with Kerber, who is such a great player and has done extremely well and won three Slams and I think that experience definitely helps with someone as inexperienced as me so he can help guide me through, which I feel really confident about.

Also, he’s a really positive, cheerful guy who brings great energy to the team, so I think that’s also important when you’re traveling on the road for quite a long time on the tour.”
