Emma Raducanu seemed on a roll in Cluj-Napoca before losing 6-2 6-1 Marta Kostyuk on Friday. The US Open champion didn’t look at her very best also because the Ukrainian player looked extremely solid.
Soon after the match, Raducanu explained that she was also struggling from a physical point of view.
“I’ve wasn’t physically feeling 100 per cent today. I was quite tired and lethargic. I knew that from practice this morning,” she said.
“I think it’s just the last six months it’s been a lot of learnings and I’ve experienced a lot with not so much gaps, I’m just adapting to the fast-paced life of the tour,” she added.
Emma will now head to Linz, where she will try to go deeper. Also in Austria, she will have the company of Simona Halep, who accepted a late wild-card.
