Delray Beach. Nishikori struggles vs. world no.169. Isner survives Russell

Seed no.2 Kei Nishikori and seed no.3 John Isner didn’t have an easy opener in Delray beach.

Nishikori.

Kei was meant to have an easy first round against Elias. The start was quite promising as he won the first set 6-1. In the second the Japanese struggled a lot to be broken twice and lose 7-5. Finally in the decider Kei got an early 5-0 lead to finally win 6-2.

Nishikori will play the second round against world no. 65 Teimuraz Gabashvili.

Isner

Big Johny had a real fight against his fellow compatriot Michael Russel to rally from 1 set down. John won the decisive (and only) break in the 9th game of the third set.

Isner will play the next round against Dudi Sela.
