Well, that might not have been flattering for the organisation in Dubai, but at least Serena was rather straightforward!
The world no.1 during a press conference explained why she has decided to play in Dubai and that wasn’t a conventional explanation.
Serena: It’s boring to practice every day
“My back finally started to feel better, but it wasn’t better in time for me to play Doha at the level I’d like to play,. o then it became more about what can I play next, and this was next on the calendar.
It gets boring to have to practice every day. I was like, ‘I don’t want to practice anymore. I want to play a match.'”
Serena will play world no.24 Ekaterina Makarova in the first round. Head to head is 2-1 for Serena that was upset by Ekaterina in the Australian Open in 2012.
