We have another casualty in Doha as we lost also the seed no.1 Na Li.

The Chinese was meant to have a comfortable match against world no. 134 Petra Cetkovska in the second round, but eventually that match became a nightmare.

After losing the opener at the tiebreak, Na Li won the second set 6-2. At that point many were expecting an easy decider for the world no.3, but that didn’t really happen.

The Australian Open champion got a 2-0 lead in the third set, but then she couldn’t hold it and the Czech eventually won the decider at 4.

Na Li lost the match even if she has scored more points that her opponent (121 vs. 119). See Match Stats

Cetkovska: I am very happy for my performance

Petra commented “Well, it’s difficult to describe at the moment, because I’ve just sat down after coming from the court, and it’s an amazing victory,” Cetkovska said. “But I’m very, very happy with the performance today. Even though I was 3-1 down in the third set, I managed to make it and get through. So I’m really, really happy, of course. It’s an amazing win for me.”

Next vs. Kerber
Petra will play the quarter finals against Angelique Kerber. Head to head is 1-0 for the German.
