ATP Rotterdam. Del Potro survives Monfils. Murray advances

Juan Martin Del Potro and Andy Murray do not disappoint in their opener in Rotterdam.

Del Potro

The seed no.1 had a horrible draw to get Monfils in the first round. The Frenchman was in top form to triumph few days ago in Montpellier, but this time he couldn’t surprise again.

Gael gave a tough first set to Delpo to capitulate only in the tiebreak that he was leading 5-3. In the second set there was just one break in the 4th game that made the difference between the Argentine and his opponent. See match stats.

Murray

Andy had a much easier encounter against world no. 35 Roger-Vasselin. The world no.6 conceded only 6 gamer to the Frenchman. Match Stats

The Brit commented “I moved well. For me that’s a big part of my game. Sometimes at the beginning of weeks it can be tough to get used to a new surface in terms of your movement. But from the beginning of the match, I made it tough for him to hit any winners and kept making him play one extra ball. Hopefully at the week goes on I’ll start to hit the ball better with each match.”

Murray will play next round against world no.113 and qualifier Dominic Thiem from Austria.
