Surprising Murray will play in Acapulco

Andy Murray wants to take back his tennis and he probably needs some points to get back in the top 4 (now no.6 – see rankings), so playing the ATP 500 in Acapulco could be rather useful.

Andy: I am excited to play in Mexico

Murray commented “I’m looking forward to playing in Acapulco for the first time next February. I have heard so many great things about the tournament and the city and I am excited to play in front of a Mexican crowd, who love and know their sport.”

The Tournament Director

Raul Zurutuza put the accent on shifting the tournament from the clay courts to the hard courts (a good move in preparation of Indian Wells an Miami)  “We are very happy to confirm that Andy, David and John will be playing in Acapulco in February. Next year, we begin a new chapter in the history of the tournament and we are very excited to move from clay to hard courts and open our chances to welcome new players to Acapulco so our fans can enjoy their tennis.”

The tournament will start the 24th of February
