Injured Isner withdraws from the Davis Cup

Bad news for team USA as the American no.1 John Isner won’t be able to play against Great Britain.

John is having a strange start of the season as he is plagued by this injury to his ankle that has made him to retire in Perth (Hopman Cup) and at the Australian Open (1st round). Funny enough in between he has managed to win a tournament in Auckland despite the injury!

Winning in New Zealand was a great success, but now John is paying it toll as he won’t be able to play the Davis Cup tie against Great Britain.

The world no.13 commented “I’m getting better. I wouldn’t say I’m exactly where I want to be right now. It’s an annoying issue I’m dealing with,”

Isner will be replaced by world no. 79 Donald Young that will play his first match against Andy Murray. Head to head is 2-1 for Andy
