Serbian captain respects Djokovic’s decision to miss the Davis Cup

A very bad news for Serbia as Novak Djokovic has decided not to play the Davis Cup tie against Switzerland.

That leaves the Serbian team without any high ranked player as Janko Tipsarevic is also unable to play (injury) and Viktor Troicki is serving the famouse suspension for doping.

So the highest-ranked player for Serbia will be World No. 102  Dusan Lajovic.

From the Captain

“Djokovic feels that he needs a pause. He is exhausted, both mentally and physically. None knows what he feels in this moment better than himself.

Novak needs a lighter preparation that would leave him full of energy to undertake the rest of the season. We all understand him and stand behind his choice. We don’t want him to get hurt or have an injury as it happened last year, so we will not want him to go beyond his limits.

Novak has already showed a million times how important it is for him to play for his team.”

So the Serbian team looks doomed against Switzerland that won’t rely on Roger Federer, but (better?) on the Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka.
