Rankings: Wawrinka world no.3. Federer no.8. Nadal widens gap with Djokovic

Open champion  Stanislas Wawrinka jumped 5 places to reach his new career high world no.3.

Federer

A Swiss goes north and another one goes south. This time it’s Roger that falls to world no.8 losing 2 positions. This has happened even if Roger reached the semifinals in Melbourne as both Wawrinka and Berdych (the other semi-finalist) improved their Australian Open results comparing to last year.

Murray

Another big disappointment for another big 4 as Andy Murray loses 2 places to be ranked now world no.6.

Del Potro

Juan Martin had a really lousy Australian Open as he was upset in the 2nd round. However Delpo took advantage of Murray and Ferrer losing much more points than him to reach the world no.4 ranking.

Dimitrov

Now world no.19 Grigor reached another milestone. Getting to the quarterfinals allowed the Bulgarian to break in the top20 with a clear seasonal target to reach the top 10.

Pospisil

Another Canadian is on a roll. Reaching the 3rd round in Melbourne (he retired before playing against Wawrinka) allowed Vasek Pospisil to get the 25th spot of the rankings.

Nadal – Djokovic

Getting to the final added to Rafa 1200pts to his rankings as last year wasn’t able to play in Melbourne. The King of Clay was also blessed by the fact that Novak Djokovic lost more than 1500pts as he has reached only the quarters in Melbourne to not defend his 2013 title.

The biggest gainer – Robert Stephane

Melbourne Lucky Loser Robert Stephane climbs 41 places after reaching the 4th round at the Australian Open.

The Biggest Loser – Janko Tipsarevic

More tennis misery for Janko Tipsarevic that could not participate to the Pacific Swing as he is still trying to recover from his injury. Janko loses 33 places to be ranked world no. 69.
