Emma Raducanu has attracted tennis fans’ attention worldwide after she won the US Open title. Emma became an instant celebrity, especially in the UK where many think that she can be crucial to inspiring the new generations.
During a recent interview, it emerged that it is now difficult to find tennis courts in the UK after Raducanu’s success in New York. Emma confessed that she has been dealing with the same issue.
Andy Murray’s mother, Judy, during an interview with the BBC during a visit to Mile End Primary School in Aberdeen, stressed again the importance of Emma’s success.
Judy commented:
“It really came out of nowhere, and it will provide a massive inspiration. I think for grassroots tennis to grow, and especially for girls’ tennis, to have a teen role model, it couldn’t be better for getting more girls involved in playing the game.
So we’re hoping lots of the girls that are here today at Mile End Primary will be inspired by what she did and want to play our wonderful sport.
We have to take advantage of the massive opportunity that Emma’s success and her profile and the excitement that that has brought.”
