Few months ago there was the funny cartoon of Wawrinka courting Roger in Dubai hoping for the Maestro to play the Davis Cup against Serbia… well.. that didn’t work!
Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka would have a very strong chance to defeat Serbia as Djokovic can’t really count on a strong partner as Tipsarevic is injured and Troicki has been banned for doping.This means that Switzerland would almost for sure count on 2 points (the second single) and Roger and Stan are quite a strong double. That didn’t convince Roger to play.
The official announce that Roger won’t take part to the tie came from the Swiss Tennis Federation that has announced the following team: Stanislas Wawrinka, Marco Chiudinelli (no.172) , Henri Laaksonen (no.230), and Michael Lammer (no.451).
