Carlos Alcaraz Garfia had a fantastic run at the US Open, where he had to retire in the quarterfinal when facing Felix Auger-Aliassime because of a leg injury.
Some criticized Carlito for retiring, saying that he didn’t try hard. However, things were quite different, as confirmed by his doctor in Spain. The 18-year-old posted a message describing the entity of his injury hoping to be properly fit to play in Indian Wells.

“Today, I have visited my doctor @drlopezmartinez for evaluation and diagnosis of my injury in @usopen. A fibrillar tear is confirmed in the vastus medialis and lateral quadriceps and an elongation in the adductor, so I have to rest for a few weeks and recover in order to reach Indian Wells with the best level. Thank you very much for the support!”

Now ranked no.55, Carlos played his last match on the 7th of September when he had to retire when playing against world no.15 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter and the scoreline was 6-3 3-1 .
