Carlos Alcaraz Garfia had a fantastic run at the US Open, where he had to retire in the quarterfinal when facing Felix Auger-Aliassime because of a leg injury.

Some criticized Carlito for retiring, saying that he didn’t try hard. However, things were quite different, as confirmed by his doctor in Spain. The 18-year-old posted a message describing the entity of his injury hoping to be properly fit to play in Indian Wells.

“Today, I have visited my doctor @drlopezmartinez for evaluation and diagnosis of my injury in @usopen. A fibrillar tear is confirmed in the vastus medialis and lateral quadriceps and an elongation in the adductor, so I have to rest for a few weeks and recover in order to reach Indian Wells with the best level. Thank you very much for the support!”
