Belinda Bencic was in excellent form at the US Open, but eventually, she had to bow to a fantastic Emma Raducanu in the quarter-final. Belinda had her opportunities when she had the chance to recover in the last game of the match when Emma Raducanu was struggling with her serve. However, eventually, she lost 6-3 6-4.
During the press conference that followed her match, Belinda Bencic shared nice words for both Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez.
When asked to comment about the ascent of the 2 teenagers, Belinda said:
“I honestly think it’s great for tennis. It’s obviously great stories. I just really hope everyone will protect them and will hope the best for them and not try to not destroy, but… put so much pressure and so much hype around them so it gets too much.
I hope everyone will stay and will really hope the best for them so they can just develop in peace a little bit.”
