Zverev happy to be back with father and brother. Djokovic or Berrettini next in US Open SF

Sascha Zverev explains why he has been performing so well with the help of his father and brother

Zverev Father

Alexander Zverev seems to have finally found his way back! The German player went through all sorts of troubles during the last couple of years, but it seems that he has found the proper mindset to achieve what has always been expected from him.

Zverev is on a 16-matches winning streak and he is definitely in a great position to win his first slam. He will face either Novak Djokovic or Matteo Berrettini in the semifinal.

Back with his family

During a press conference at the US Open, Zverev revealed that the key was to be back to basic. Zverev used to be managed by external agencies and he tried and failed to partner with celebrities coaches such as Juan Carlos Ferrero, Ivan Lendl, and David Ferrer. Eventually, Sascha decided to be coached by his father and get the help of his brother Mischa for other issues.

Sascha commented:

The most important decision in my life was I think was taking control of my own life. That’s what I have done, I think this year, beginning of this year. I’m taking control over everything, of my life, of my home in Monaco, of my business life, of my management, of companies that I want to work with, everything is happening and going through me, which before everything was happening with the people I hired, which is a big difference. I feel like that shows on court, because that also does give you confidence.

If you are in control of your own life, you are in control of your tennis. Players and people, I have my parents around, I have my brother around, I have my team around. That didn’t change. But the decision-making in everything, it changed in a way that I am the one calling all the shots, in a way, and that is a huge difference.”
