Emma Raducanu is currently in New York, where she has been having a fantastic fortnight at the US Open. The British sensation reached the quarter-final after playing 7 matches and conceding no sets.
The family
Emma has become an immediate sensation in the UK. She was born in Toronto to a Romanian father (Ian) and a Chinese mother (Renee). She moved to the UK with her family when she was just 2. Emma has always credited her parents for her success. She said that having a father and a mother from hard-working countries was very important for her upbringing.
Eventually, her father introduced Emma to tennis after he wanted her to try all sorts of sports when she was very young. Ian is also the main voice for when Emma needs to make big decisions for her career.
Coaches, agent and boyfriend
Emma used to be coached for a long time by Nigel Sears, Andy’s Murray father-in-law. However, she recently decided to split with Nigel and partner again with Andrew Richardson, who coached Emma when she was very young. Her agent is 29-year-old Christopher Helliar, who used to play at a college level in the US.
There are no reports of Emma dating any boyfriend, and there is no evidence of a special one on her social media feeds.
