Imperfect Djokovic wins opener in Melbourne

A decent start for Novak Djokovic that defeats Lukas Lacko in straight sets.

Nole looked a bit rusty at the beginning to then take firm control of the match and win in less than 2 hours. Again , Djokovic wasn’t that perfect (30 unforced errors), but that was good enough. Match stats

Nole: I haven’t play at my best

The world no.2 wasn’t entirely happy by his performance to comment “I was happy with my concentration. I thought I was prepared well. Physically I feel great. I’m very motivated obviously to play my best. I know that I haven’t played my best, especially in the second set. But, look, also credit to my opponent who was playing really nice tennis from the baseline.

I won many easy points with the first serves and had a high percentage of the first serves in. That’s something that makes me very encouraged for this tournament and for every next match.”

Next vs. Lorenzo Mayer

Nole will play the second round against world no.98 Leonardo Mayer that has trashed Albert Montanes 6-1 6-3 6-1.
