Alexander Zverev publicly accused Stefanos Tsitsipas of cheating during their clash in the Cincinnati semi-final.

Tsitsipas got one of his extended toilet breaks after he lost the first set against the German player. Stefanos carried with him an entire bag in order to change his attire. When Stefanos was off the court, Zverev was hinting that his opponent was being coached by text while he was in the restroom. At the same moment, the cameraman had a shot at Stefano’s father Apostolos, who was texting. Nevertheless, it is not unusual for people attending tennis matches to use their phones during breaks.

Unfortunately, Zverev’s allegations became a reality for many and some people were convinced that Stefanos was indeed being coached during the break.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has the luck of being mentored by Serena Williams coach Patrick Mouratoglou. The Frenchman defended Tsitsipas, adding that his phone was at the hotel and therefore, he received no coaching during the break.

“Tsitsipas is everything but a cheater. I can’t hear stuff like that. There was people saying stupid things about him texting his father. His phone was at the hotel,” said Mouratoglou.

Stefanos always said that he has never cheated.
