Wawrinka triumphs in Chennai

A magnificent start of the year for Stanislas Wawrinka that wins his 5th career title already in January.

Stan won the tournament in style without dropping a single set. To be honest he didn’t need to beat any high ranked player, but it is still an injection of confidence.

Wawrinka: I need to keep on improving

Stan was rather happy by his week to comment “I was really happy with the way I was playing. In the end I think I served well and played aggressive. Edouard is a tough player to beat. I lost against him last year in Basel. He was playing really good this week.

“I need to keep practising and keep going for the rest of the year because it’s only one week. I need to keep pushing myself to try to improve.”

The Swiss will now head to Melbourne to prepare for the Australian Open

Roger-Vasselin: It was a special week for me

The Frenchman didn’t manage to win his first career title, but he was still pleased by his tournament to comment “After this final I can say it was a great week for me, but every week is different and I have to be focused on my game. Of course it gives me a lot of confidence for the rest of the season.”
