WORLD NO.1. This is Tsitsipas’ next target!

Stefanos Tsitsipas has it very clear what is going to be his next main target

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the tennis player who has won the most matches in 2021. The Greek sensation is in great form and he has a remarkable 48-14 win-loss record this season.

Nevertheless, Stefanos has lost many tough matches recently. Just one week ago, he lost an impossible encounter against Sascha Zverev in the Cincinnati semi-finals when he was leading 4-1 (and 2 breaks up) in the deciding set.

World no.1

During a recent press conference, Stefanos Tsitsipas said that even if he is more than happy to win titles, his main target is getting as many points as possible to become the new world number 1.

Stefanos commented:  “The rankings are there for a reason. They signify something important. I think that the very next step would be the No. 1 spot, which I hope I can get to one day.

I have said it; I’m not aiming for titles. I’m not aiming to go and win every single one of them. I want to get to the stage of a tournament where I’m able to get a lot of points. I am aiming for the big points.

I know that most of the big points are semi-finals onwards. That’s where you get the most amount of points, and I want to be aiming for that.”.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently no.2 in the Year to Date live rankings. A great run at the US Open could be a huge boost for his rankings, but he will have to face Andy Murray as early as in the first round.
