Sascha Zverev confirmed that the allegations of Olya Sharypova are untrue

Alexander Zverev is trying to come out from a rather nasty period. In the last couple of years, all sorts of stuff happened to the German player outside of the tennis court. Only last year, Zverev was widely slammed for not auto isolating after participating in the Adria Tour following his own promise to self-quarantine.

Later, it emerged that he was about to become a father to his ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea.

Things got extremely nasty for Sascha Zverev when he was accused by his former girlfriend Olga Sharypova of domestic abuse.

Even if these allegations were unproven, Zverev’s reputation was tarnished even if he strongly denied what has happened. Right before this US Open American journalist, Ben Rothenberg published a lengthy article with some more allegations from Sharypova.

Zverev’s statement

That was enough for Sascha who decided to take legal action. He released the following statement:

“I have engaged my German and American lawyers in the matter. They have already obtained a preliminary injunction against the source and the author who published the false allegations. The court followed our arguments and states, the accusations aroused are defamatory and false. The lawyers have therefore initiated further proceedings against the source and the author.

I categorically and unequivocally deny having abused Olya. I also fully support the creation of an ATP domestic violence policy. I will not address this matter any further.”

Sascha was asked to comment during the press conference that anticipates the US Open. He said:

“No, I’ve always said that the allegations and everything that has been said is untrue. The court confirmed that. So there’s nothing else to say from my side because, as I said, the court confirmed that it’s untrue. There’s nothing more I can say towards that.”

Talking about the fact that he is happy about the ATP to have a policy about domestic accuse, he added:

“I mean, what do you mean? We didn’t go to trial. If the court confirmed it, the court confirmed it. There’s nothing else that I can say. Also I’ve actually asked the ATP myself for the past six months to have something. It’s going to get sorted in these kinds of situations. I think it’s good that the ATP is kind of renewing their rules a little bit because they’ve been there since the ’80s and nothing has been changed in a way. But regarding to my topic, I think my statement has been very clear. There’s nothing else I can say or there’s nothing else to say because I’ve said everything.”
